Privacy Policy
When you visit and/or play quizzes on Clever Twig, some information about how you use the site is recorded. There are two main reasons for doing this: to improve the quality of the site, and to improve the user's overall experience. Here are the details:
Google Analytics
Like over 10 million other websites, this site uses Google Analytics (GA). GA provides me with information about my visitors, such as where in the world they are viewing the page from, how they got to the page, which pages they view and for how long. I use this information only for the purpose of improving the website. The information sent to GA is anonymous and is collected by use of a cookie that is installed on your browser whenever you visit Clever Twig.
All activity on Clever Twig adheres to the Google Analytics Terms of Service.
If this is not your cup of tea and makes you want to cry out down with this sort of thing!, here are your options:
- Click here to disable the GA cookie on your browser (by use of another cookie). Note this will only work on www.triviabytes.com, up until that cookie is deleted.
- Use a browser plugin to prevent GA tracking on any website.
- Opt-out of Google's advertising tracking cookie.
- Pour hot liquid over your internet viewing device until its cookie tracking abilities and/or operability are permanently disabled.
User Information
All information entered by the user on the user accounts page is potentially visible to me, with the exception of the site password which is encrypted (I can see the encryption, but cannot determine your password from that). Your information will never be sold to any third party. Your email address (if provided) will only ever be used to reset your password if needed, or in order for me to reply to a query or comment.
Quiz Results
Whenever the 'stop' button is hit while playing a quiz on Clever Twig, the results of that quiz are sent to the website servers. If the user is not logged in, this information is anonymous and only includes information related to that quiz. If the user is logged in, the user ID is attached to those results. The results are used to display a user's historical progress on Clever Twig, as well to show more general statistics about each quiz. To opt-out:
- If you are not a signed-up user, click here to install a cookie that will prevent results being sent to our servers. Note this will only work on www.triviabytes.com, up until that cookie is deleted.
- If you are a signed-up user, the above link will work also. Alternatively you can clear your records or delete your account on the accounts page (to access click on your username while logged in).
Closing Remarks
To reiterate, Clever Twig will never sell any information recorded to any third parties, because that would be a really crappy thing to do. This is a not for-profit venture, so enjoy the ad-free environment!
